Initiatives dedicated to the well-being and support of seniors in our community
Support and accompaniment program for seniors
QADA is a pioneer in the Ward-Gold sector. The project promotes a positive image of aging, combats ageism and social exclusion, and encourages the inclusion of vulnerable communities. It also highlights the social history of Saint-Laurent, shaped by diversity and intercultural coexistence. The project showcases the richness of seniors’ experiences and knowledge, contributing to the geographical, economic, and sociocultural development of the neighborhood.

Project: "The Voices of Immigrant Seniors in Saint-Laurent"
The project "The Voices of Immigrant Seniors in Saint-Laurent", led by COCLA, aims to promote the active participation of immigrant seniors in the community and associative life of the Saint-Laurent borough, while valuing their life journeys, knowledge, and collective memory as an essential human and cultural heritage for the social development of the area.
Through participatory workshops, intergenerational meetings, conferences, and various community activities, seniors have the opportunity to share their migration stories, their experiences of adaptation, and their paths of resilience. These spaces for dialogue allow them to become true agents of intergenerational transmission and intercultural connection in a neighborhood marked by great cultural diversity.
From a perspective of community mobilization and project outreach, the initiative also plans to recruit 12 senior ambassadors from the Chameran area, along with the participation of experienced speakers. This approach aims to strengthen collaboration with local partners and to facilitate the dissemination and adoption of the project among seniors and community stakeholders in Saint-Laurent.
By valuing the voices and experiences of immigrant seniors, the project helps strengthen the sense of belonging, combat social isolation, and recognize the essential role of seniors in building an inclusive, supportive, and intergenerational community.

Outreach initiative for vulnerable seniors
ITMAV Program (Community-Based Outreach Initiatives for Seniors in Vulnerable Situations) The ITMAV program is an initiative of the Government of Quebec, under the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Its goal is to prevent and reduce social isolation among seniors, particularly those living in vulnerable situations. Main objectives of the ITMAV program: Build trusting relationships with vulnerable seniors in their living environments (neighborhoods, public housing, shopping centers, libraries, etc.). Identify isolated or at-risk seniors who make little or no use of existing services. Support and refer these individuals to appropriate resources based on their needs (health care, social services, housing, food assistance, emotional support, etc.). Promote their social inclusion by helping them participate in community life and break their isolation.
